When the officials were counting the votes, they received a large number of rejected ballots. At some places this figure was even more than the margin of victory.

In Punjab, the number of rejected votes was more than the victory margin in 22 seats. Apart from this, such incidents were also seen on 1-1 seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh respectively.

PML-N benefited

In areas where the count of rejected votes was high, the Nawaz Sharif-led party was dominant. PML-N captured 13 constituencies here. Apart from this, 5 seats went to PPP’s account, while PTI managed to win 4 seats and independent candidates managed to win 2 seats.

The biggest difference was seen in NA-59 seat of Punjab.

The highest number of rejected votes were seen in NA-59 (Talagang-cum-Chakwal) area of Punjab. Here PML-N candidate Sardar Ghulam Abbas obtained 129,716 votes. Whereas opposition PTI supported leader Muhammad Ruman Ahmed got 129,716 votes. The number of rejected ballot papers was 24,547.
